I know this is Kennedy's fate in life. That girl, I tell you can get anything done that needs to be done. Yesterday she was sick and she says to my mom on the phone......"Me sick Gramma, you come watch me tomorrow?" Yep and guess who is here today? GRAMMA. Then today my mom is getting ready to make lunch and Kennedy says she wants Mac and Cheese, mom no more turns around and Kennedy has scaled the kitchen cupboard getting out ....Mac and Cheese.
This is the child that knows where everything is in my house. EVERYTHING. If you ever want to know where something is Kennedy can find it. She has an account on everything in the whole house. My mom comes over probably once every 4 months to watch her and I never have to tell her where anything is, as Kennedy is there and she will tell her!
Kennedy is my headstrong kid though, she gets something in her head and that is how it is going to be. She knows how to write her name, perfectly, backwards. She is left handed, so it makes sense that life is backwards to her.....and she will learn the right way, but I know it is going to have to be her idea to do that. She potty trained herself, not when I was ready to potty train her, but when she was ready to potty train, which would have been on a camping trip with the inlaws. Seriously, you can't make her up! Love her to pieces, but it is going to be done on her time in her way. Kennedy can already tell me every letter of the alphabet and its sound. She also rides her bike like no other.......the kid has a will like I can't even explain.
In the next frame though, I can tell you she knows she is the baby of the family and knows when she speaks people listen. She knows how to get her way and spends many a night yelling demands at her father. She is also the child that you don't want to have wake you up in the morning...she usually does it by screaming in your ear. Not my idea of just waking up and getting going!
Kennedy just knows how to talk everyone in her direction of things, and never stops talking, almost makes me want to go out and buy a used car..........from her!
The plight of a mother of three, a scrapbooker and a teacher begging for summer. This is a blog that really puts the real in life.

Easter Traditions
Been a while since I have blogged. I just read another blog where the writer had lost both her mom and her father and since has had children and has looked back and there were so many things that she wishes that she had asked them now that she is raising her own family. I also lost a friend who was 40 years old to cancer this weekend, and I think about her 16 year old daughter and can't imagine the things she will miss out on. So.....today I am going to talk about Easter...both past and present. I hope my family always celebrates Easter!!
Growing up Easter always involved church. CHURCH, CHURCH and more CHURCH was the Easter tradition. There were years with sharing a minister, that we wouldn't have Lenten services every week, so then we would go to church every night the week of Easter.....Monday-Sunday. UMM HMM. I have a huge faith. I have a great personal relationship with God. I see him in so many things and really enjoy the beauty he has created. But meanwhile, I struggle with NEEDING to be in church weekly. I guess I would never make a great Catholic! But I will say, I feel my kids have a great understanding of who God is and what he has all given us.
Back to Easter, so great memories of Easter included us dying eggs on Saturday afternoon, and mom scared to death we were going to spill that dye! Then, watching the Ten Commandments on TV the night before Easter. I will be honest, it scared me, so I tried everything I could not to watch it! Sorry Mom. I remember we never had Easter baskets, but instead we were given boxes to make into the perfect thing for the Easter bunny to find to leave our treats. We always got something for Easter, if it be a stuffed animal or candy, there was always something. I remember early Sunrise Services and the sun would be just coming up and beaming through our beautiful church, and remember bunnies going everywhere Easter Sunday. Really a picturesque Easter Sunday. There would be breakfast and then another church service and then we would go home for Easter Dinner.
A rather vivid memory was a wild ride in GOLDIE down a hill into a ditch when I was about 12. UMM HMM. That dent was still in GOLDIE when I started driving years later. I also remember mom squealing and saying we were going to die coming down that hill. UMM HMM. Great memory of my mother always thinking so positive!
We would often do an Easter Egg hunt at the farm in the afternoon. Mom thought everyone loved the hard marshmellow eggs. Just being together was the greatest thing of Easter. That is what I want my kids to understand. Enjoy the days we get to be together.
We came home after two Easters on Sunday and the kids were just wrecks. Jackson had blue teeth and a ring of chocolate around his mouth, and a tummy ache! Delaney was just plain tired, and Kennedy was upset there was no more eggs to hunt. I have a tote of plastic Easter eggs if there is ever a shortage! Just goes to show you there is no such thing as too many Easter eggs!
We spent Easter Monday in Clean up mode! Cleaned the house and worked outside, trying to get everything in order to survive 28 more days of me at school! Then summer will be here! Won't be long now!!!!!

One year later.....
I went back and reread what I have written on this blog two years ago, and it amazes me how much things have changed and how much things still stay the same! I now have a 7, 6 and 4 year old, and we are just in such a different place than we were in the Summer of '10. We are anxiously awaiting the summer of 2012 which will be here before we know it. 34 school days but who is counting really?? I have a first grader that is all about reading and a Kindergartner, who is wanting to read just as much as his sister. And then Miss K is still Miss K, that belly laugh of hers, not only is it addictive, it is also the sign of I am in trouble here! She goes to preschool two days a week and is totally in love with Mrs Kvols as all of my other kids were too. It has been a great spring, and everyone has spring fever something fierce.
Jackson just got a skateboard and a loft bed for his 6th birthday. Any bets which one will cause the first broken arm?
